Happy Whiskers Offers More! - Fun Candle Ideas & Candle Burning Tips

Tips for hassle-free candle use, display and clean-up!

  To Extend Burning Time:
To help candles burn slowly and evenly, refrigerate them, wrapped in plastic or foil so wicks won't absorb moisture, before burning.

Before burning, trim wicks to 1/4" in length

If possible, use candles in draft-free areas; drafts elicit larger flames, making candles burn faster.

When possible, burn votive candles in tight-fitting holders to preven the wax from spreading and puddling quickly.

Each time you light a pillar candle, burn it long enough (at least one hour) to create a pool of wax across most of the diameter of the candle to ensure even burning in the future.

  For Easy Clean-Up:
Add 1/8" of water to the base of candleholders prior to lighting. When the candle is extinguish and has solidified, the wax should easily pop loose.

To remove spilled wax from the table linens, let wax harden, cover it with a paper towel or brown paper bag and press wax with a warm iron (it will be abosrbed into the paper).

To minimize smoking when extinguishing a candle, use a snuffer to dip the wick into the liquid wax, then re-center the wick.

To Keep Candles Looking At Their Best:
Keep colored candles out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Wipe dust from pillar and taper candles with a nylon stocking or a soft cloth moistened with a touch of vegetable oil.
